Bangladesh secured a monumental victory against Australia on Tuesday, ending a 21-year wait to defeat the cricketing giants in the ODI format.

Mosaddek Hossain, making a triumphant return to the national squad after a four-year hiatus, delivered a stellar all-round performance to lead the hosts to an 86-run win (DLS method) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

Batting first after losing the toss, Bangladesh posted a competitive total of 284 for 8 in their allotted 50 overs.

The innings was anchored by Mosaddek Hossain, who remained unbeaten on a career-best 86. His aggressive yet composed batting provided the late-innings surge needed to set a challenging target for the visitors.

In response, Australia struggled against a disciplined Bangladeshi bowling attack. The visitors were reeling at 191 for 9 in 42.2 overs when rain interrupted play.

As the downpour continued and play became impossible, the match was decided via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method, confirming Bangladesh’s historic 86-run triumph.
