Bangladesh’s forex reserves rise to $36.59bn

Bangladesh’s gross foreign exchange reserves stood at US$36.59 billion as of Aug 4, according to the latest data released by Bangladesh Bank.

 

The central bank also reported a strong rise in remittance inflows at the start of the 2026-27 fiscal year.

 

Expatriates sent US$406 million in remittances during the first three days of August, up 84.4 per cent from US$220 million received during the same period last year. Of the total, US$133 million was received on Aug 3 alone.

 

From the beginning of the fiscal year through Aug 3, remittance inflows reached US$3.27 billion, compared with US$2.70 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, marking a 20.9 per cent year-on-year increase.
