The body of a girl child was recovered from the dustbin of Chittagong city. Police suspect that she was murdered after being raped.
The body was found in a dustbin in front of Falmondi on Station Road of Kotwali police station in the city on Monday (April 1) around 9 pm. The identity of the child is yet to be known by the police. Even the locals do not recognize him.
Kotwali zone assistant commissioner of the city police Atanu Chakraborty said that the police went to the spot after receiving information from the locals around 8:30 pm. Locals informed the police after seeing the leg sticking out of the bag.
After the police took out the body from the bag, it was found that it was a girl child aged approximately 5-7 years. He is foaming at the mouth. There are also marks of injury on the body.
AC-Kotwali Atanu said, we think that the child’s body was dumped there at some point of the day. We are not sure how the death occurred. Killing can also be done by suffocation or poisoning.
He also said that there are signs of bleeding in the sensitive parts of the body including the anus. We will also look into whether the rape was followed by murder or not. The body was recovered and sent to the Chittagong Medical College (CHMEC) hospital morgue.
