Govt working relentlessly to ensure safe, modern transport system: Minister

 

Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping Minister Sheikh Robiul Alam said that the government is continuing its efforts to develop a modern, safe and sustainable transportation system.

He made the remarks on Sunday during a courtesy meeting with US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen at his office in Secretariat.

During the meeting, the two sides held productive discussions on issues of mutual interest, particularly focusing on ongoing development projects in Bangladesh’s road, rail and water transport sectors, as well as future opportunities for cooperation.

The minister highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the government is working tirelessly to upgrade the country’s transport infrastructure to make it more efficient, secure and sustainable.

He also expressed optimism about potential U.S. investment and technical assistance in this sector.

US Ambassador Brent T. Christensen welcomed the current government and reaffirmed the United States’ continued support for improving road safety, modernizing transport systems and developing sustainable infrastructure in Bangladesh.

He emphasized strengthening bilateral cooperation, increasing investment and promoting technological exchange to further advance the country’s communication and transport sectors.

Secretary of Road Transport and Highways Division, Dr. Mohammad Ziaul Haque, was also present at the meeting.
