Mamunul Haque, former Joint Secretary General of Hefazat-e-Islam, was released from Kashimpur jail in Gazipur on Friday morning.
Subrato Kumar, senior jail super of Kashimpur High Security Jail, said Mamunul Haque walked out from the prison around 10:40am.
Hearing his release news, Mamunul Haque’s followers started gathering in front of the Kashimpur jail on Thursday evening.
But he failed to walk out for some legal complications.
“As Mamunul Haque was accused in several cases, it took time to scrutinise his papers. For this, it is not possible to release him today,” the jail super said on Thursday.
