India looks forward to working with the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi to further strengthen bilateral relations, said Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal while responding to a question regarding two newly appointed officials in the press wing of the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi.
During the ministry’s weekly media briefing on Friday, a journalist asked whether India had any reaction to the appointments of Saidur Rahman as Press Minister at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi and Marufa Akter as Press Secretary at the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, noting that both had previously been associated with social media posts perceived as critical of India.
“We have seen that new officers have been appointed. We have been informed of the appointments, and we look forward to working with the High Commission here to take our relationship forward,” Jaiswal said.
When asked during the press conference whether the Indian Ministry of External Affairs was aware of the upcoming visit to Dhaka by the US Ambassador to India and what the purpose of that visit might be, Jaiswal stated that they had no information on the matter.
